About Community Engagement
Under the direction of the Assistant Provost for Community Engagement and Education, we are committed to making positive change through partnerships, educational activities, and community service and outreach. We aim to promote and strengthen real partnerships between faculty, staff, students, and those who live, work, visit and study in the Galveston community. We strive to:
Promote and strengthen solid partnership among community, academic institutions, industry, and agencies;
Stimulate community-focused partnerships among UTMB’s professional schools, centers, institutes, departments, and programs; and
Assess community concerns and priorities towards development of responsive strategies.
In addition, we work closely with all UTMB stakeholders to design, and staff initiatives and programs to meet established targets for community engagement. We also maintain a relationship with St. Vincent’s House, including the Nurse-Managed Clinic and UTMB’s Teen Health Program, and provide oversight for UTMB participants in these programs.
