  • Postdoctoral Fellow, Research Scientist I or Research Scientist II, University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, TX) - A Postdoctoral Fellow, Research Scientist I or Research Scientist II position related to emerging viruses which require work in biocontainment, including but not limited to Ebola and Marburg viruses, is available in the laboratory of Dr. Alexander Bukreyev, Department of Pathology, University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Specific areas of research are related but not limited to antibodies and vaccines. The successful candidate is expected to run research projects, write manuscripts, present data at national and international conferences, assist the PI in writing progress reports, grant proposals, and protocols of animal experiments, and assist in supervision of PhD students and research associates. The work will include experiments in BSL-4 and BSL-2 labs.

    Candidates must have a PhD and should have experience in virology, viral immunology and/or molecular biology. Documented experience of work under BSL-4 (preferably) and/or BSL3 biocontainment is desirable. Applicants should be highly motivated, able to conduct independent research, and have publications in internationally recognized English language journals.     Virology Postdoctoral Fellows, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (New York, NY) - The Krammer Laboratory is looking for research assistants and postdoctoral fellows to work on influenza virus vaccines and serology.   • Research Associate II or III, University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, TX) - A Research Associate II position is available in the Department of Pathology, University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. The area of research would be related to emerging viruses which require work in biocontainment (Ebola, Marburg and other BSL-4 viruses) and may include work on projects related to antibodies and vaccines.

    Candidates must have BA/BS or MS in biology and at least 3 years of experience in virology, immunology and/or molecular biology techniques. Documented experience of work under BSL-3 and/or BSL-4 biocontainment is required. A candidate will be performing work in BSL-4 and BSL-2 laboratories. A candidate is expected to perform basic experimental procedures, such as in vitro antibody neutralization tests, virus titration, flow cytometry, maintaining cell cultures, ELISAs, preparation and analysis of DNA mini-preps and maxi-preps, cloning and sequencing of DNA, and PCR. A candidate is also expected to assume a major responsibility in the daily operation of the BSL-2 lab, including ordering of reagents and maintaining of equipment, as well as to write protocols of animal studies.
