Faculty Profile and Biography

  • Dr. Brehm earned her Master of Science in Pharmacology and Toxicology and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch before completing her Internal Medicine residency and serving as Chief Medical Resident at Baylor College of Medicine. In this leadership role, she directed educational programming, resident mentorship, and recruitment initiatives while helping support one of the nation's largest Internal Medicine residency programs. A dedicated clinician educator and scholar, Dr. Brehm has developed innovative curricula, delivered Grand Rounds, and presented her work at regional, national, and international conferences. Her commitment to academic medicine has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Outstanding Resident in Inpatient Medicine – Veterans Affairs Award, Resident Educator Award, two Professional Educator Appreciation and Recognition Awards, and multiple other research and teaching awards throughout her career. Dr. Brehm is passionate about advancing excellence in inpatient care through education, mentorship, quality improvement, and collaborative scholarship.
