Cryptosporidiosis is a life-threatening illness in immunocompromised patients and is a leading cause of moderate-to-severe diarrhea in children, causing ~50,000 deaths in children annually. To date, there is no effective treatment or vaccine against this infection. Therefore, in this project we will develop a novel RNA technology (self-replicating RNA) for Cryptosporidiosis which will be useful to develop next generation mRNA vaccines and RNA-drugs against Cryptosporidiosis.
