Dr. Shawn Nishi appointed Program Director for the Pulmonary and Critical Medicine fellowship program

The Division of Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine would like to welcome and congratulate Dr. Shawn Nishi as the new appointed Program Director for the Pulmonary and Critical Medicine fellowship program, effective July 1st 2016. Shawn Pua Eiko Nishi, MDDr. Nishi joined as an Associate Professor and serve as an Associate Program Director since 2011. She directs the ultrasound course for the house-staff, bronchoscopy simulation for fellows, and is a member of the Clinical Competency Committee since its inception. Shawn has distinguished herself as a dedicated clinician and an educator. Additionally, she is well versed with the Quality Improvement; an important skill needed in the current healthcare environment and continue to pursue scholarly activity and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Nishi received her MD degree from UTMB in 2005 and completed both her Internal Medicine Residency, and Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine fellowship training at UTMB. In September 2014, Dr. Nishi was chosen as a University of Texas Distinguished Teaching Professor and in July 2015 was chosen as a 2015 Super Doctor© Texas Rising Star. She is a member of UTMB's Academy of Master Teachers and is enrolled in the UTMB Physician Leadership Academy.
