Dr. Vijaya Murthy, Division of Rheumatology:
“Dr. Murthy is an associate professor of medicine in the Division of Rheumatology. She is also the associate program director for the Rheumatology fellowship program. Over the last year or so, she has played an increasingly important role in teaching our medical students at all levels, and in addition, has contributed meaningfully to the teaching of our PA students; this is good to represent our department in medical school and PA school education. At the divisional level, she has developed new teaching material for the fellows, having prepared many new educational talks addressing many topics, and all of these are extremely important for the fellows to prepare for taking the boards. Finally, she has been a leader in working and preparing the fellows to participate in the national Knowledge Bowl Competition, sponsored by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) where our team was the gold winner in the 2021 competition, an outstanding achievement. This is excellent to enhance the reputation of not just our department and division but UTMB”
