Dr. Robert Beach honored at Alumni Dinner

The Department of Internal Medicine held its annual alumni dinner on Friday April 14,th 2023 in conjunction with the 32nd Annual Essentials in Medicine CME meeting.   During the dinner, we honored Dr. Robert Beach for his lifetime of service to the Department of Internal Medicine.  Dr. Beach is a long-time faculty member of UTMB.  Dr. Robert Beach arrived at UTMB in 1979 after completing his Medical Degree at LSU in New Orleans.  He completed his internal medicine residency here in 1982 and then served as chief resident the following year.   He then moved to North Carolina to complete his Nephrology Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.  He came back to UTMB as an Assistant Professor in 1986 and served many roles in the Division of Nephrology up until 1994 when he decided to move to North Dakota for the next 4 years to serve as a Nephrologist in Bismarck North Dakota.  He came back to UTMB in 1998 and has had many roles since then, including many educational roles.   He is beloved by the medical students here at UTMB where he served as a faculty advisor for the St. Vincent’s clinic for the past 18 years, for which he was recently recognized with a lifetime achievement award by our medical students.   Dr. Beach also delivered the Deiss Lecture on Saturday, April 15,th 2023.
