According to David Niesel and Norbert Herzog, double dipping while eating party dips really is a bad idea. Scientist have discovered that before dipping most dips contained no detectable bacteria. After double dipping, the dips contained 750 to 1,000 bacteria per teaspoon. Their recommendation is that you share your latest good news, a favorite recipe or valuable advice, but don’t share your microbiome with others at a party.
