Trademarks and Licensing

UTMB Health logos—with or without tagline, in all approved color combinations—are registered trademarks of The University of Texas System Board of Regents. A licensed vendor is required to produce merchandise featuring the UTMB Health logo or name, whether used for resale or as giveaways.

The UT System Office of Brand, Trademarks and Licensing provides a list of printed materials that do NOT require the use of a licensed vendor but may require approval from UTMB Health Brand Management Team or similar campus entity. Common examples include brochures and department banners.

The UT System Office of Brand, Trademarks and Licensing manages the licensing programs on behalf of the UT System institutions, including UTMB Health. The licensing policies and procedures ensure consistent application of the UTMB Health brand, protection of use from non-licensed vendors, and, where applicable, proper payment of required royalty fees.

If you are ordering merchandise for resale or personal/department use—including T-shirts, pens, pencils, magnets, stress balls, or any other product you can imagine applying our logo to—you must use a licensed vendor. Your licensed vendor will handle the approval process with the Office of Brand, Trademarks and Licensing and Learfield’s online portal for artwork review.

Artwork review generally takes 3-5 business days. It is important to allow sufficient time in the event that edits are required. Rush requests are considered, but cannot be guaranteed. The Office of Brand, Trademarks and Licensing will contact the UTMB Health Brand Management Team with questions if needed.

To find a licensed vendor for UTMB Health merchandise, see the Office of Brand, Trademarks and Licensing web page. Search key words “Medical Branch”. Click “View”. Open the PDF. Check back frequently for updates.
