Faculty Profile

  • Dr. Yang’s lab aims to systematically reveal molecular mechanisms underlying chronic pulmonary diseases, airway remodeling/fibrosis and antiviral responses. Various cutting-edge technologies have been applied in the lab, such as CRISPR/Cas9, ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, PRO-Seq and CUT&Tag, to study cellular signaling of NF-kB, IRF/IFN, IL-6, TGFb and Wnt/b-Catenin in response to inflammatory and infectious stimuli. With the support of NIH/NIAID grants and intramural fundings, Dr. Yang’s current efforts are focused on DNA / RNA epigenetic reprogramming of mucosal innate immunity against rhinovirus and RSV infection in allergic asthma, as well as the mechanistic linkage with other disorders, for example, obesity and neuroinflammation. Received the DOM Seed Grant for work focused on transcriptional regulation in inflammation and infection.
