Dr. Yang’s lab aims to systematically reveal molecular mechanisms underlying chronic pulmonary diseases, airway remodeling/fibrosis and antiviral responses. Various cutting-edge technologies have been applied in the lab, such as CRISPR/Cas9, ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, PRO-Seq and CUT&Tag, to study cellular signaling of NF-kB, IRF/IFN, IL-6, TGFb and Wnt/b-Catenin in response to inflammatory and infectious stimuli. With the support of NIH/NIAID grants and intramural fundings, Dr. Yang’s current efforts are focused on DNA / RNA epigenetic reprogramming of mucosal innate immunity against rhinovirus and RSV infection in allergic asthma, as well as the mechanistic linkage with other disorders, for example, obesity and neuroinflammation.
