Serious Illness Conversations: Aligning Our Care with Patient Priorities.


Objectives: At this conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify patients that benefit from a Serious Illness Conversation.
  2. Become familiar with the Serious Illness Conversation guide.
  3. Consider how to align medical management with patient priorities.

Target Audience and Needs: Internal Medicine faculty, staff, registered nurses, residents, fellows, students, and internists specializing in Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Medicine, Geriatrics, Hematology & Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Palliative Care, Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, and Rheumatology need to be regularly updated with new research and guidelines regarding the evaluation and management of medical disorders and implement them in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and improve patient outcomes.

Educational Methods: Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.

Activity Evaluation: Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
