“The science of obesity and its management”
Objectives: At this conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
- To review the basic science of obesity and its relevance to the practicing internist.
- To identify clinical trial findings that will strengthen our approach to the management of obesity and its cardiometabolic complications.
- To apply evidence-based guidelines to the care of the patient with obesity and associated co-morbidities.
Target Audience and Needs: Internal Medicine faculty, staff, registered nurses, residents, fellows, students, and internists specializing in Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General
Medicine, Geriatrics, Hematology & Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Palliative Care, Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, and Rheumatology need to be regularly updated with new research and guidelines regarding
the evaluation and management of medical disorders and implement them in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and improve patient outcomes.
Educational Methods: Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.
Activity Evaluation: Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
