Cardio-Obstetrics: Pregnancy and the Heart
Objectives: At this conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
- Identify patients at risk for CVD when pregnant or peripartum
- Identify alarming signs during pregnancy or during fourth trimester in patients with no prior CV history and know when to refer to cardiology
- Know what meds to avoid during pregnancy or future one
- Choice of valve, if needed
Target Audience and Needs: Internal Medicine faculty, staff, registered nurses, residents, fellows, students, and internists specializing in Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Medicine, Geriatrics, Hematology & Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Palliative Care, Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, and Rheumatology need to be regularly updated with new research and guidelines regarding the evaluation and management of medical disorders and implement them in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and improve patient outcomes.
Educational Methods: Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.
Activity Evaluation: Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
