Transformative Impacts of Aging on Texas and the USA

Objectives: At this conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Become familiar with the aging tsunami and its impacts on health care
  2. Understand the 5 Ms of Geriatrics
  3. Understand the importance of functional capacity and the impacts of frailty
  4. Appreciate the goals of Geriatrics initiatives

Target Audience and Needs: Internal Medicine faculty, staff, registered nurses, residents, fellows, students, and internists specializing in Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Medicine, Geriatrics, Hematology & Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Palliative Care, Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, and Rheumatology need to be regularly updated with new research and guidelines regarding the evaluation and management of medical disorders and implement them in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and improve patient outcomes.

Educational Methods: Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.

Activity Evaluation: Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
