Services for College of the Mainland Students Bacterial Meningitis Vaccine

The Bacterial Meningitis vaccine is an important vaccine that is required by your school and by law. As such, UTMB has partnered with COM to administer this vaccine to students who meet the following criteria:

  1. All first-time freshmen
  2. All new transfer students
  3. All returning students who did not attend classes in the Fall of 2022
  4. All new and returning continuing education students who did not attend classes in the Fall of 2022

Obtaining the vaccine at College of the Mainland:

  1. Select Tuesday, April 16 in the date field.
  2. Select your preferred appointment time.
  3. Schedule before Friday, April 12 at 5pm.
  4. Use code COMBAM in the appointment note.
  5. Directions: College of the Mainland (Doyle Family Administration Building), 1200 N. Amburn Road, Texas City, TX 77591. The Doyle Family Administration Building is represented as Building #2 on the Campus Map. Please park in the Visitor Parking spaces (Parking Lots A & B) ONLY. (These directions will not match the appointment instructions.)

Obtaining the vaccine at the UTMB Student Health Clinic:

  1. Scroll down and schedule an appointment with our clinic.
  2. Appointments are available Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., starting on designated dates.
  3. Use code COMBAM in the appointment note. 
  4. Show up 10 minutes prior to your appointment at our clinic on the 3rd floor of the Lee Hagee Jamail building UMTB Galveston at 1001 harborside drive, Galveston, TX 77555. 
  5. Directions: park in Garage 2 on the 3rd, 4th, or 5th floor. Take the elevator to the 1st floor, come outside, and make a right turn to the back of the Old Red building (historical red brick building near the garage), and the Jamail building is to the right of Old Red. Before scheduling the appointment:

  • Gather insurance card(s). Click to see UTMB accepted insurance plans.
  • Additional options:
    • Students without an insurance card can self-pay using their credit card. Payment will be obtained via phone 1-2 days prior to the vaccination day. Payment will not be accepted on the day of the vaccination. Cost of the Vaccine is $168.
    • Students who do not have insurance and cannot afford to pay for the vaccine please contact the Galveston Health Department at (409) 938-7221 for assistance.
