Dr. Cynthia Judice has practiced medicine for 46 years and joined UTMB Pediatric Associates in 1993 after being in practice with Dr. Ben Raimer and Dr. R. W. Noble since 1977. Her undergraduate work was done at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and medical degree obtained from Louisiana State University in New Orleans. She completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Section on Sports Medicine. Dr. Judice is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and the Chief Medical Officer for UTMB Primary Care Services and the UTMB Community Based clinics. She oversees the primary care clinics in Alvin, Dickinson, Friendswood, League City, Angleton, Webster, Lake Jackson and Texas City. As CMO for UTMB Primary Care Services, Dr. Judice leads the efforts to build the network of Patient Centered Medical Homes as well as to expand UTMB’s primary care presence in this region of Texas. Dr. Judice has been involved in teaching medical students and residents, as well as caring for many wonderful children over the past 46 years. Her special interests include sports medicine, asthma and the diagnosis and treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. However, she is now doing mostly administrative work and telemedicine.

Dr. Wentong Pan is Board Certified in Internal Medicine as well as in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. She is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Academy of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Pan completed her residency in Internal Medicine as well as her fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Pan has been working in the endocrinology field for over fifteen years. Her interest in diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome led her to participate and complete several clinical research projects in the areas. Dr. Pan has presented these results in regional and national conferences. Dr. Pan intends to maintain her interests in diabetes and obesity, while she continues to treat various disorders of general endocrinology. Her extensive clinical experience and solid research background helps her keep abreast of changes in the dynamic field of diabetes and obesity as well as maximizes her ability to offer accurate therapies.

Dr. Laura Porterfield is a Clinical Assistant Professor and the interim Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs at UTMB's Department of Family Medicine. She is passionate about holistic care, preventative medicine, global health, and caring for the underserved.

Dr. Nisarg Shah graduated from medical school SBKS Medical Institute and Research Centre in India in 2010. Following this he completed Internal Medicine residency from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA in 2016. He joined University of Texas Medical Branch in 2018 for Endocrinology fellowship for his interest in the field and stayed on as faculty working at Stark Diabetes Clinic at Primary Care Pavilion in Galveston, TX. Dr. Shah is a clinically oriented Endocrinologist applying evidence-based information for managing and taking care of his patients. He likes to personally work with his patients with diabetes and obesity to help them safely reach their goals. Dr. Shah is currently board certified by ABIM in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. He also a Board-Certified Hypertension Specialist by the American Society of Hypertension. He is also an active member of the Endocrine Society and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

I was born and raised in central Texas and have wanted to be a doctor since about fourth grade. Sometimes a calling reaches you early and holds on. My calling was reinforced through college at Texas A&M and during my gap year before medical school when I lived and worked at a hospital in rural India. There I learned how helpful a family doc could be for a community. I went to medical school at UTMB in Galveston and joined the Global Health program, traveling to Nicaragua, Peru, and Kenya. I wanted to gain a global perspective and understand more about public health and decided to add a Master's in Public Health to my studies. My husband and I met at UTMB and have been married now 10 years. I love being a family physician. I enjoy getting to know my patients, and helping people reach their health goals. I enjoy the community-based perspective, and I learn from my patients every day. For fun, my husband and I love to travel, hike, run, play board games, and I recently took up sailing!

Amber Khan has been practicing as a nationally certified and state-licensed Physician Assistant (PA) since 2012. Her specialties include Adult Family Medicine and Urgent Care. More recently, she has been involved in providing care for COVID-19 patients and teaching students from UTMB's Physician Assistant program through hands-on learning during rotations. Amber's goal is to make it easy for patients to understand their health care using simple language to empower patients to manage their health rather than allow their health to manage them. Amber has a passion for syncing our mental/emotional health with our physical health and therefore spends a significant amount of time getting to know each patients unique hurdles and coming up with a plan of action that will work best for them.

Dr. Kalia is a board-certified family medicine physician and assistant professor at UTMB. She cherishes her life-long relationships with patients and is passionate for prevention through lifestyle modifications with the most natural approach. Dr. Kalia obtained a degree in Nutritional Science-molecular experimental tract with a minor in Philosophy at Texas A&M University, College Station, where she was in the Undergraduate Research Scholars Program. She completed her medical degree at American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine with completion of clerkships through Florida International University (FIU) Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Miami, Florida through a partnership program.  After medical school, she partook in Clinical Trials research at the University of Pittsburgh under the department of Anesthesiology where she participated in an NIH funded multi-institutional study under the University of Pennsylvania and participated in several pharmaceutical/industrial trials. During residency training, she further enhanced her knowledge with a Plant Based Nutrition Certificate from Cornell University. She is currently a member of American Academy of Family Physicians, Obesity Medicine Association, The Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine. She continues to be a lifelong learner and pursuing further board certification in obesity medicine. Dr. Kalia’s goal is to optimize patient care and patient outcomes through research, prevention, and implementation of the latest evidence-based practices.
