Dr. Sultana is a Sleep Medicine Specialist, trained in general pediatrics, adult/pediatric sleep medicine and obesity medicine. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. She completed her Pediatric Residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso and her Sleep Medicine Fellowship from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Research has proven increased risk of diabetes in patient with obesity or various sleep disorders. People having disrupted, poor sleep and obesity are much more likely to gain weight and develop diabetes. Dr. Sultana is highly motivated in helping patients with diabetes by improving their sleep behavior and lifestyle modification for weight reduction.

Mary Ann Pedraza joined UTMB in 2006 and moved into a leadership role in 2016. In her role as Associate Director, Business Operations, Mary Ann is actively involved in planning, and oversees a host of institutional projects and emerging initiatives at UTMB’s Office of the President. Mary Ann is an integral part of the team, managed and coordinated several mission-critical projects which includes $176M margin improvement project, university’s response to Ebola, Covid-19, and various initiatives.  Mary Ann’s current role also includes managing the Osher Lifelong Learning program, fiscal, budgetary and administrative operations for multiple operating units for UTMB’s Office of the President. Mary Ann is also actively involved in issues management and works closely with executive leadership. Mary Ann earned her bachelor’s degree in arts major in communication from the Philippine Women’s University in Manila, Philippines.
