Wei-Chen (Miso) Lee, PhD
Dr. Lee is an analytical, solution-focused health services researcher with more than 10 years of experience in studying the health of vulnerable populations. In this UTMB’s Diabetes Prevention and Care program, she is responsible for survey design, patient recruitment, data collection and analysis, and production of reports. She is also a State-Certified Community Health Worker (CHW), CHW Instructor, Long-Term Care Ombudsman, and CASA Volunteer. Her main focus is to integrate public health measures into healthcare settings and to advocate for people without access to public health and clinical care. Outside of UTMB, she currently serves as the chair of Committee on Health Equity at the American Public Health Association. Previously, she has served as an ad hoc committee member for Association of American Medical Colleges – Health Equity Research Subgroup and AcademyHealth Disparities IG. By working with other committee members, she aims to improve system-level policies to achieve diversity and inclusion in membership.
