The Angleton Danbury Campus was recently nominated for the Greater Angleton Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Leadership Award. The ADC was a top 3 contender for this recognition and received the runner-up award. This award is presented to businesses and or entrepreneurs who are considered strong leaders in their industry and in our communities. Dave Bleakney, vice president and CEO of the ADC received the award at the Annual Leadership Graduation and Awards Luncheon on May 14. Congratulations, Angleton Danbury Campus!

Congratulations to Bobbye Peltier, a charter member of the UTMB Health Angleton Danbury Volunteers. Peltier was nominated and received an award for the 2015 Volunteer of the Year from the Texas Medical Center Volunteer Service Advisory Council. One of the highlights for the ADC guests in attendance was being introduced to Dr. Denton Cooley, guest speaker for the awards ceremony.

ADC also celebrated National Nurses Week and Health System Week. Activities included an annual Stress-Free Day for all employees, where chair and hand massages were the special of the day! ADC managers and team leaders volunteered to serve cake and a wonderful breakfast for the staff members in appreciation of their hard work throughout the year.

ADC staff members from both the Wellness Center and Marketing and Communications visited with local residents at the Annual Spring Health Fair. This event is hosted by the City of Angleton and Recreation Center and focuses on the senior citizens in our area. Twenty-five vendors were in attendance providing information on assisted-living opportunities to healthy heart tips. The ADC team provided blood pressure screenings, as well as nutritional and dietary information during the event.

Dr. Qiangjun Cai, Department of Cardiology, was the guest speaker at the May Diabetic Support Group meeting. Dozens of community members were on hand to listen to Cai, who will be opening a clinic on the Angleton Campus in early June. Thank you, Dr. Cai, for your time and expertise to educate our community.

ADC also participated in National Police Week. The UTMB Police Department was on hand to share information about programs available not only to our staff but to our community. McGruff the Crime Dog was also in attendance for photo ops. Thank you to the UTMB Police Team for keeping our campus safe and secure.
