Faculty Profile

  • Dr. Courtney Richman is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine with a focus on hospital medicine. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine–Pediatrics at Duke University, where she also participated in the Medical Education Leadership Track. Dr. Richman earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Duke University School of Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis.

    She has led multiple quality improvement projects—most notably improving biopsy rates in esophageal food impaction cases and increasing colorectal cancer screening among younger adult populations—presented at national conferences including the American College of Gastroenterology and Digestive Disease Week.

    In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Richman is passionate about medical education. She has served in numerous teaching roles at Duke University, mentoring medical students and residents in clinical skills, outpatient medicine, and pediatric care. She was awarded the Duke University School of Medicine Appleseed Resident Teaching Award and the GME Patient Safety Advocate Award in recognition of her leadership and teaching excellence.
