Mission Statement: The purpose of the fishing club at UTMB is to allow students to build friendships and reduce stress through the sport of angling.

Activities: Fishing club activities include bank fishing, wade fishing, kayak fishing, and fishing from a boat.

Mission Statement: The Hiking Club aims to provide safe group hiking events for UTMB students. We plan to map out feasible hiking routes in the greater Houston/Galveston area for students to join us on monthly hikes. We will aim to provide resources for our members to learn how they can plan their own hiking experiences, aside from the ones we are offering. We also plan educate our members on how to build a first aid kit to bring with them on hikes.

Activities: Our activities will include hikes at least once and month and the officers will bring trash bags to pick up trash along the trail.

Mission Statement: MedWARriors aims to integrate outdoor recreation with emergency medicine education through hands-on workshops and participation in medical wilderness adventure races (MedWARs). We foster an interprofessional, collaborative learning environment that enhances students’ ability to efficiently handle trauma and illness in low-resource settings. Our workshops and activities give students opportunities to apply ingenuity and critical thinking skills to solve complex medical problems. Closely working with faculty and other medical professionals will create opportunities to develop meaningful relationships and gain insight into emergency care and first-aid.

Mission Statement: The Mountain Bike Club is a recreational sports organization whose objectives are to encourage UTMB students and faculty to ride mountain bikes, educate members on how to develop skills in mountain biking, boost camaraderie between students at UTMB, and provide opportunities for service in the mountain bike community (trail maintenance, biking fundraisers, etc).

Activities: monthly group bike rides, volunteer opportunities, bike maintenance workshops

Mission Statement: The Running Club is recreational sports organization whose objectives are to raise awareness of the sport of running at the university, to promote running with the goal of improving fitness and physical health, to provide a welcoming and educational environment for running, to encourage teamwork and camaraderie between students at UTMB, and to foster interest and participation in local, national, and international races.

Mission Statement: The purpose of the Soccer Club is to have fun with UTMB faculty and students from all different schools who love soccer and are looking for a group to play with. The Soccer Club also creates an intra-professional and multicultural environment for all members to connect, have fun and enjoy their time here at UTMB.

Activities: Meet and play for fun 2-3 a week, Hosting tournaments, Futsal - indoor court soccer, Soccer-Volleyball

Mission Statement: The Student Tennis Association's purpose is to promote the sport of recreational, social, and competitive tennis and related events at UTMB, to support the interests of tennis, to provide education in tennis for all members of various skill levels, to foster teamwork and sportsmanship, and to provide a safe and fun environment for exercise and fitness.

Activities: Practice sessions open to all skill levels, connecting tennis players who want to have a regular hitting partner, setting up a tournament in the Spring time, holding free lessons for Galveston area kids.

Mission Statement: Provide a radical means of stress relief through teaching surfing and providing boards for new surfers.

Activities: Teach SOM students how to surf safely and enjoy surfing as a hobby during medical school
