For generations, UTMB alumni and benefactors have invested in the future of health care by supporting scholarships for many deserving students. Recently, the School of Health Professions held its annual scholarship awards luncheon to bring together benefactors who passionately share UTMB's vision and the scholarship recipients who benefit from their generosity.

More than 180 deserving SHP students received nearly $315,000 in scholarship awards. At the awards celebration, SHP Dean Elizabeth Protas said, “Our scholarship dollars have more than doubled since 2007, but we still have work to do. We are continuing our efforts to build our scholarship funds, and my personal goal is for us to provide the kind of financial assistance that will actually make the difference between someone receiving an education and the inability to do so. With the hard work and generosity of our many benefactors, friends and alumni, I am confident we will succeed.”

Congratulations to all of the scholarship recipients and sincere appreciation to those who made the awards possible through their generosity.
