Clinical Pathology Conference

Objectives: At this conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Analyze a constellation of symptoms with multi-organ involvement to formulate a differential diagnosis.
  2. Explain the clinical presentation vasculitis.
  3. Evaluate the utility of tissue sampling to guide diagnosis and treatment.
  4. Knowing symptom management.
  5. Finding the "zebras" within medicine.
  6. Assessing the patient as a whole.
  7. Have some familiarity with the histological appearance of inflammatory myocarditis.
  8. Have some familiarity with the diagnostic cutoffs to diagnose inflammatory myocarditis.
  9. Observe the role surgical pathology can play in confirming diagnosis and guiding treatment decisions.

Target Audience and Needs: Internal Medicine faculty, staff, registered nurses, residents, fellows, students, and internists specializing in Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Medicine, Geriatrics, Hematology & Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Palliative Care, Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, and Rheumatology need to be regularly updated with new research and guidelines regarding the evaluation and management of medical disorders and implement them in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and improve patient outcomes.

Educational Methods: Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.

Activity Evaluation: Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
