"The Neutropenic Fever that Bit Me"

Objectives: At this conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Be aware of basic Mechanism of Action of some of the newer oncology drugs.
  2. How to differentiate the newer side effects from other known chemotherapy side effects.
  3. How to treat these side effects before consult Oncology.
  4. Knowing why one needs to consult Oncology on every one of these patients.

 

Target Audience and Needs: Internal Medicine faculty, staff, registered nurses, residents, fellows, students, and internists specializing in Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Medicine, Geriatrics, Hematology & Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Palliative Care, Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, and Rheumatology need to be regularly updated with new research and guidelines regarding the evaluation and management of medical disorders and implement them in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and improve patient outcomes.

Educational Methods: Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.

Activity Evaluation: Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
