"Mentorship. Getting the Most from Medical Education and Training"

Objectives: At this conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Mentoring is the key for successful traditional careers for faculty.
  2. A minority of faculty have had the experience to mentor faculty in traditional research-oriented careers.
  3. For these trainees, selection of a mentor is as fundamental as the area of medicine chosen.
  4. Most faculty can mentor fellows and junior faculty in clinical and education pathways.

 

Target Audience and Needs: Internal Medicine faculty, staff, registered nurses, residents, fellows, students, and internists specializing in Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Medicine, Geriatrics, Hematology & Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Palliative Care, Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, and Rheumatology need to be regularly updated with new research and guidelines regarding the evaluation and management of medical disorders and implement them in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and improve patient outcomes.

Educational Methods: Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.

Activity Evaluation: Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
