Acknowledging the Facility

Acknowledging the UTMB Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Core Facility in publications, presentations, and other scholarly works is essential. Proper recognition of core facility contributions supports continued funding, helps maintain state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation, and ensures the availability of services for the research community.

Publication Acknowledgement Requirement

Investigators are requested to acknowledge the Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Core Facility in any publication, poster, or presentation that includes data generated using facility instruments or services. This includes both flow cytometric analysis and cell sorting performed through the Core.

Recommended Acknowledgement Statement

A simple acknowledgement statement is sufficient. The following language is suggested:

“[Technique/technology] was performed at the Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Core Lab at the University of Texas Medical Branch. RRID: SCR_028773”

-or-

“We thank the University of Texas Medical Branch Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Core Lab, especially [staff name], for their assistance with [technique/technology]. RRID: SCR_028773”

Investigators are welcome to expand upon this statement as appropriate for their publication or funding agency requirements.

Staff Recognition

Acknowledgement of specific core facility staff members who contributed significantly to experimental design, execution, or data analysis is appreciated and encouraged when applicable. While not required, recognition of staff expertise is welcomed and helps demonstrate the value of specialized core support to funding agencies.
