Overview
UTMB Genomics (formerly known as UTMB Nextgen Sequencing, UTMB Molecular Genomics Core, and UTMB Center for Single Cell Genomics) is a comprehensive, state-of-the-art facility dedicated to advancing genomic research through cutting-edge technologies and expert support. We offer an extensive portfolio of genomic services designed to meet the diverse needs of the UTMB research community, spanning traditional molecular genomic techniques to the latest innovations in high-throughput sequencing and spatial biology. We are committed to Quality and reproducibility and encourage users to utilize our free consultation services before any experiments that will require our services to ensure better experimental design and data interpretation.
Core Services and Capabilities
Molecular Genomics

Our facility provides Sanger sequencing for targeted variant validation and clone validation, human cell line authentication to ensure research rigor and reproducibility, and whole plasmid clone validation for molecular cloning applications using long read sequencing. We also offer nucleic acid isolation, sample QC, and real-time PCR services.
Next Gen Sequencing

We offer RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, small RNAseq and other specialized sequencing services and we also support comprehensive genomic investigations through whole genome sequencing, amplicon sequencing for targeted variant detection, and custom targeted hybrid capture sequencing for focused genomic regions of interest. Our expertise extends to specialized applications including viral RNA genome sequencing, direct RNA sequencing for native RNA modification detection, and full-length RNA sequencing for complete transcript characterization.
Single Cell Genomics and Spatial Transcriptomics
At the forefront of single-cell genomics, we provide single-cell RNA sequencing to resolve cellular heterogeneity, single-cell TCR/BCR sequencing for immune repertoire profiling, and single-cell ATAC sequencing for epigenomic analysis at cellular resolution. Our capabilities also include spatial barcode based spatial transcriptomic sequencing analysis and imaging-based spatial transcriptomics, enabling researchers to map gene expression patterns while preserving crucial tissue architecture and spatial context.
