GSBS Writing StudioAssociation for Women in Science (AWIS)

The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is an amazing national organization that champions the interests of women in science across all STEM disciplines and employment sectors.  Based out of the Washington DC area, AWIS is working for positive system transformation and strives to ensure all women in these fields can achieve their full potential.

Members of AWIS enjoy incredible benefits including:

  • Professional development resources (resume writing, career coaches, etc.).
  • Access to a very impressive career center with some truly wonderful job postings not easily found elsewhere including postdoc, faculty, NIH/other government, industry, and scientific writing positions.
  • Ability to participate in virtual career fairs.
  • Access to monthly webinars covering a wide variety of topics from resume writing to networking, the science of interpersonal relationships, public speaking tips for scientists, and creating a vision statement just to name a few.
  • Access to scholarship opportunities and funding.
  • Leadership opportunities.

The UTMB GSBS established an Institutional Partnership in April 2023 with AWIS.  What this means is that anyone on the UTMB campus (female or male) has the opportunity to become a member of AWIS FREE OF CHARGE!

We believe AWIS membership provides unique resources to our faculty and trainees not found elsewhere.  The press release announcing this partnership can be found here:
