Primary Logos
UTMB
This logo is used for the entire institution as well as the research, innovation, and education pillars.
When referencing these pillars in plain text, the institution’s name should first appear in full as “The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).” After the initial mention, the shortened form “UTMB” may be used in subsequent references. More details in our verbal identity guide.
UTMB Health
This logo is used for the clinical care pillar of the institution.
When referencing the clinical pillar in plain text, the institution’s name should first appear in full as “The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health).” After the initial mention, the shortened form “UTMB Health” may be used in subsequent references. More details in our verbal identity guide.
Secondary Logos (Restricted Use)
UTMB (Landscape)
The Shield
While the shield is a distinctive design element, it should not be used on its own. The full logo is required on all items, products and communication materials. The shield may be used as a secondary graphic element, only when the full logo is present or in close proximity. It should serve to complement, not replace, the official logo.
To preserve brand consistency and integrity:
- DO NOT use the shield by itself when the university name is not included in the surrounding written content.
- DO NOT manipulate, distort or alter the shield, including color changes or special effects. Always place on a solid background.
Co-Branding
Institutional Co-Branding
This lockup style is for internal co-branding with UTMB departments, divisions, programs, and institutional initiatives. The line typically reserved for the tagline is used to display approved internal names, such as Department of Surgery, Office of Innovation, Neuroscience Research Center, or Primary Care Services. External partner names are not permitted.
Visit our brand support page to submit a request for department and school co-branded.
Partnership Co-Branding
Partnership co-branding is used when UTMB appears alongside an approved partner organization—such as Texas Medical Center or applications like MyChart. This lockup format clearly communicates collaboration while protecting the integrity of each institution’s mark.
Usage Requirements
- Horizontal Divider
UTMB’s logo and the partner logo must be separated by a thin vertical line. This divider maintains visual balance and distinguishes each brand. - Equal Visual Weight
Partner logos should appear at a scale that feels visually balanced with the UTMB logo. Neither logo should overpower the other. - Official UTMB Logo Only
Always use the approved, full-color version of the new UTMB logo. Do not substitute alternate marks, icons, or unit-specific versions.

App icons provide a simplified representation of the brand across digital devices and platforms. The registered trademark symbol should be omitted, and “UTMB” is excluded at this size.
