Eliminating Food Insecurity

Food insecurity is defined as “the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food."

Studies show food insecurity is more common in students than it is in the general population, that being over 11%. With this in mind, the Picnic Basket has stepped in to assist.

If you are a student experiencing food insecurity, we are here to help!

We are located in the Jamail Student Center Building (the building next to Old Red) on the second floor near the Office of Student Life. The Picnic Basket is partnered with Galveston County Food Bank to provide free food for students in need.

Your Student ID is required and there will be the one-time questionnaire required by the Galveston County Food Bank. This form can be completed at the pantry, but can also be completed ahead of time at the link below!
