Neuroradiology
The Neuroradiology Section at UTMB Radiology has experienced remarkable growth over the past decade. Today, our section includes 8 fellowship-trained neuroradiologists who provide comprehensive subspecialty expertise across the fellows.
Our growth has paralleled the expansion of UTMB's clinical services throughout the region, including the League City, Clear Lake, and Angleton Danbury campuses. It has also coincided with the development of the Galveston campus as a Level I DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level I Trauma Center, allowing us to provide advanced neuroimaging services for patients with the most complex neurological conditions.
Our practice offers a unique combination of academic tertiary care, community-based imaging, and care for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice population. This diverse clinical experience provides our trainees with broad exposure that prepares them for successful careers in academic medicine, community practice, or private practice.
All neuroimaging studies are interpreted by fellowship-trained neuroradiologists with expertise in diseases of the brain, head and neck, and spine. In addition to delivering high-quality patient care, our faculty are dedicated educators who supervise radiology residents and neuroradiology fellows, provide didactic teaching across multiple specialties, and actively participate in multidisciplinary conferences, including the Head and Neck Tumor Board, Neuro-Oncology Tumor Board, and Epilepsy Conference.
Our section provides interpretation of a full spectrum of neuroimaging examinations, including radiographs, CT, and MRI of the brain, head and neck, and spine. We also offer advanced imaging techniques such as MR perfusion, functional MRI (fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), and MR spectroscopy. Our image-guided procedural services include fluoroscopy-guided lumbar punctures, myelography, and spine interventions, including cervical and lumbar epidural steroid injections.
Research, innovation, and continuous improvement are fundamental to our academic mission. Our faculty are actively engaged in clinical research and are committed to advancing the field of neuroradiology through scholarly activity and the adoption of emerging technologies. We continue to integrate artificial intelligence into our clinical workflow to enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve efficiency, and support exceptional patient care.
At UTMB Neuroradiology, we are committed to delivering outstanding, patient-centered care while educating the next generation of radiologists and neuroradiologists. We are proud to build upon UTMB's longstanding tradition of excellence in patient care, education, research, and innovation, and we remain dedicated to serving our patients, learners, and communities with the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
