The Pediatric Radiology Division at UTMB Radiology is staffed by fellowship-trained pediatric radiologists with subspecialty expertise in the imaging of infants, children, and adolescents. Faculty in this division are dedicated to providing diagnostic imaging tailored to the unique physiologic, anatomic, and radiation-safety needs of pediatric patients, consistent with ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
Members of this division routinely utilize radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging, applying dedicated pediatric protocols designed to minimize radiation exposure and the need for sedation whenever possible. The division supports UTMB's pediatric emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services, including congenital, oncologic, musculoskeletal, and neurologic conditions unique to the pediatric population.
Pediatric Radiology faculty collaborate closely with Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery, Neonatology, and Pediatric Emergency Medicine colleagues, and participate in multidisciplinary conferences addressing complex pediatric cases. UTMB Radiology Residents rotate through the division and gain experience interpreting pediatric imaging studies under faculty supervision.
The division upholds UTMB's academic mission through continued education and scholarly activity, and remains steadfastly committed to the safe, compassionate imaging care of children throughout the region.
