Musculoskeletal (MSK)

The Musculoskeletal (MSK) Division of Radiology at UTMB is comprised of 5 MSK fellowship-trained Faculty.  Faculty in this division are regarded as experts in the radiologic assessment of musculoskeletal diseases that fall under the categories of tumor, trauma, infection and metabolic disease.   Members of this division routinely utilize conventional radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and arthrography.  Additionally, a busy Musculoskeletal Clinic operates out of the UTMB League City, TX campus 3 times per week.  This clinic provides MSK diagnostic ultrasound imaging in addition to a plethora of MSK procedures.  Interventional procedures routinely performed include fluoroscopy/CT/ultrasound guided joint/bursal injections, arthrocentesis, bone/soft tissue biopsy, ultrasonic tendon ablation (Tenex) and tendon calcium needling/barbotage.  UTMB Radiology Residents actively participate in diagnosing disease with all of the above listed imaging modalities and perform or assist with the above procedures, based on their level of training.  The MSK Division is highly regarded for its teaching and is well respected throughout the UTMB enterprise.
