Chemical Segregation Tips
- When certain hazardous chemicals are stored together, violent reactions may occur because the chemicals are incompatible. Classes of incompatible chemicals should be segregated from each other during storage, according to hazard class. Use the following general guidelines for hazard class storage.
- Separate solids from liquids (preferably organic from inorganic). Note: Within the solids group, separate metals from non-metals. Keep metals away from water and moisture to prevent corrosion or reaction.
- Separate non-hazardous from hazardous.
