UT System & UTMB Construction Safety Awards

About the UT System STEP Award

The University of Texas System Safety Through Exemplary Performance (STEP) Award is given to promote safety in construction and recognize those projects and contractors that demonstrate exceptional leadership that delivers safety excellence and positive change within the construction industry.  The scoring is based on several factors: OSHA Recordable incidents, number of claims, deficiencies observed during inspections, project participation in daily inspections, timely and thorough Root Cause Analysis, and more. UT System STEP Awards are awarded at four levels: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.  Since the program's inception in 2006, UTMB has received 26 Silver and 12 Gold STEP Awards.
