Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Guidance

JSSOM CQI Policies

  • I. PURPOSE & SCOPE
    1. Regularly review and analyze data related to continuous quality improvement (CQI) to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
    2. To ensure ongoing data collection and reporting for the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) standards for the medical education program.
    3. Provide actionable recommendations to the Dean based on findings to address gaps and needs to strengthen accreditation success.
  • II. BACKGROUND

The LCME requires monitoring through a school-developed and implemented process for continuous quality improvement. At JSSOM, this is done through the Office of Academic Affairs and the CQI Specialist. This process ensures that appropriate resources are allocated for needed activities, including personnel, information technology systems, and infrastructure for the collecting and reporting of data. Standing committees and senior administrators within JSSOM contribute to the monitoring effort, and additional associated personnel provide coordination and support the process.

  • III. POLICY
    1. A comprehensive CQI plan and dashboard will be created and updated by the Committee.
    2. Outcome and process data will be gathered addressing key JSSOM outcomes, strategic priorities, and compliance with LCME standards.
    3. A system of monitoring, feedback, and continuous improvement will be implemented.
    4. CQI Governance:
      1. The Vice Dean, Academic Affairs is responsible for appointing the CQI Committee with additional stakeholders added as necessary to respond efficiently to changing or pressing needs of the JSSOM.
      2. The Committee is co-chaired by the Vice Dean, Academic Affairs and the CQI Specialist.
    5. The JSSOM Dean ensures that appropriate resources are allocated for these activities, including personnel, information technology systems and infrastructure for the collecting and reporting of data.
  • IV. MONITORING OF THIS POLICY
    1. LCME and CQI Committee
    2. Office of Academic Affairs
