Congratulations to the UTMB John Sealy School of Medicine Class of 2023!

On Friday, March 17, 2023, the UTMB JSSOM students matched to residency programs across the country. Nearly 100% of the students matched, exceeding the national average of 94%. They joined thousands of fourth-year students nationwide who simultaneously opened their envelopes at 11 am CDT revealing both their future specialties as well as their residency training locations for the next three to seven years.

Student matches covered the expanse of the United States from Texas to Michigan and New York to California. More than 60% matched to residencies in the state of Texas, with 40% matching within the University of Texas System. This year students’ top placements were Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, Family Medicine, Psychiatry, and Surgery.
