Commencement Itinerary

Friday, August 16, 2024

  • 10:30 a.m. – Student Rehearsal, Levin Hall Auditorium (required if participating in Saturday ceremony)
  • 12:00 noon – Commencement Awards Luncheon, Levin Hall Dining Room (PAS 2024 graduates and PAS faculty)

Saturday, August 17, 2024

  • 9:15 a.m. – Arrive for commencement and go to Levin Hall Dining Area
  • 10:00 a.m. – Commencement ceremony begins

Keynote Speaker:

P. Eugene Jones, Ph.D., PA-C Emeritus

Dr. Gene Jones began his journey in health care as a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy. While on active duty he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in PA Studies from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Arts in Health Services Management from Webster University. Following his military service, he earned his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Education from Claremont Graduate University. He served as the PA Program Director at UT Southwestern from 1993 until his retirement in 2017.

Dr. Jones’ academic achievements include over fifty peer-reviewed publications, designation by The University of Texas Board of Regents as a Distinguished Teaching Professor, election into The University of Texas Academy of Health Science Education, selection as a Minnie Stevens Piper Professor, and a Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award for his accomplishments in PA education. Upon his retirement from UT Southwestern, he was bestowed the honor of Professor Emeritus by the UT System.

North side elevators, #1 & 2, in the William C. Levin Building will be out of order beginning Monday, May 5, 2024, for several months.  Please use the Market Street side elevators.  

Arrival and Seating

There is no limit on the number of guests, and tickets are not required. Guests are seated on a first-come first-serve basis. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. Doors will close, if maximum capacity is reached. This decision is made by the fire marshal.

UTMB strives to ensure that all graduates and guests can participate fully in this program. Therefore, any graduates, family members or guests, who require ADA accommodations, are welcome. Advanced arrangements should be made to confirm seating. One family member is permitted to sit with each person requiring seating, and they will have assigned seating in a designated place. Other family members and friends will sit in the general assembly. If you have an accommodation request, email Shirley McGraw at no later than Monday, August 12.

When you email your request, please include the name of the guest who needs the ADA-related accommodation and the name of the person accompanying them.
