Biography
Leigh Samp, MPAS, PA-C is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Ms. Samp received a Bachelor of Science in Health from Texas Tech University and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch.
Prior to joining the UTMB faculty, Ms. Samp spent 22 years caring for patients with gastrointestinal malignancies at a high-volume academic cancer center. She now teaches and mentors PA students, focusing on development of sound clinical reasoning, clear communication, and professional confidence. Her teaching is informed by years of multidisciplinary oncology practice and centers on thoughtful decision-making, patient-centric care, and sustainable practice in demanding clinical environments.
Her scholarly interests include improving accessibility in healthcare education and provider well-being, with a focus on workplace culture, organizational transparency, and strategies to mitigate burnout in healthcare settings.
