We care for severely ill children. We provide resident education focused on:

  • early recognition, stabilization, and ongoing management of the critically ill child,
  • the understanding of complex cases,
  • interaction with other specialties, and
  • the psycho social sequelae and ethical concerns in critical illness

The UTMB Children’s Hospital in Galveston offers leading edge knowledge and over 120 years of experience in one of the finest academic settings in the nation. UTMB Health offers advanced general inpatient care for ill children, as well as specialty inpatient care for children with serious medical conditions. Our pediatric hospitalists, attending faculty physicians, nurses, residents, students and staff provide state-of-the-art clinical care and the emotional support that is essential during a hospital stay. Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) offers critical care services for infants, children and adolescents with severe illnesses or injuries. We can arrange emergency helicopter transport when needed to serve the most seriously ill children in our region.
