The University Records Center
The University Records Center, located on the 4th floor of the Lipton Tea Building, is a 18,750 square foot secure and climate controlled storage facility that can hold approximately 40,000 letter/legal boxes of records. All University departments are encouraged to send inactive or infrequently used university records to the Records Center. When departments store their records with the Records Center, the life cycle of the records are managed for them. When the retention has been met, the records team will prepare a Disposition Log and request permission from the department to destroy the records. If no holds exist, the records team will take the records to the recycle barn for secure shredding for the department. The best part about the University Records Center is all storage services are FREE of charge for UTMB departments!!
