ITS Funding Opportunity: Pilot Projects: UTMB & TAMUG

Applications Due:     October 10, 2022

Award Period:  October 22, 2022-March 31, 2023 (UTMB) and October 15, 2022-August 14, 2023 (TAMUG)

Up to five awards ($20,000 - $35,000 each) are available to support investigator-initiated studies with the goal of catalyzing larger, extramurally funded collaborations. Priority will be given to projects proposing innovative solutions that improve the health of Galveston’s communities,  address the environmental impacts of coastal/ocean transportation, or are aligned with the Blue Economy (https://www.nsf.gov/news/special_reports/announcements/092221.jsp) and/or One Health objectives (https://www.cdc.gov/onehealth/index.html). The development of novel technologies to address these needs will also be prioritized. Proposals focusing on life sciences will also be considered, as well as those seeking to create a joint training program aimed at a T32 submission.

These awards provide funding and expertise to address challenges that impact overall health and the environment. Projects can include in vitro, in silico, animal studies, and clinical studies. Benchtop testing of new diagnostics or therapeutics are also included.

Who should apply?
This is a collaborative project that must include Co-PIs from UTMB and TAMUG. Any faculty from either institution can apply. Only one application can be submitted from the same Co-PI team. Priority will be given to projects that have previously established working relationships e.g., collaborative teams from UTMB and TAMUG with a track record on specific projects.

For complete submission instructions, please download the RFA at: https://utmb.us/72i. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022. Late applications, incomplete applications, and applications not following the specified format will not be reviewed.
