Continuity Practices
All Pediatric Residents have an assignment on a primary care team, delivering primary care services at least one half day per week through their entire residency. Residents assume responsibility for the continuing care of a panel of patients.
Goals of the Continuity Practice experience:
- Developing an understanding of the continuity aspects of general pediatric care.
- Learning about physical and emotional growth and development, health promotion/disease prevention, management of chronic and acute medical conditions, family and environmental impacts on children’s health.
- Functioning as part of a health care team providing comprehensive primary care for children with complex and multiple health-related problems.
- Learning about the system of pediatric health care and practice management.
