A new report from UTMB’s Center for Violence Prevention and the Texas Institute for Child & Family Wellbeing (TXICFW) at UT Austin reveals the service needs of children and families exposed to domestic violence and resource gaps in domestic violence and child welfare agencies in Texas.

    Marie Dawlett, MD, of the UTMB Department of Pediatrics says that families didn’t really see a “season” of transmission of RSV, rhinovirus and other ailments in the fall and winter of 2020-2021 that typically arise during that time. Now that precautions are not being followed as closely as before, more toddlers are at risk. Dr. Dawlett recommends that parents monitor their children for signs of shortness of breath, or struggling with breathing.
