Research Facilities

The Division's research laboratories located in Mary Moody Northen Pavilion and Marvin Graves Building occupy over 11,000 square feet, including both bio-safety level (BSL) 2 and BSL3 laboratories.

The laboratories are equipped with cutting edge equipment including 2 flow cytometers and 2 real time PCR machines. UTMB core laboratories support ongoing research programs with state-of-the-art expertise and facilities, including in vivo and in vitro imaging and next generation sequencing.

Infectious Diseases comprise a significant portion of all research at UTMB.

Galveston National Laboratory (GNL) has one of the most comprehensive research programs in the world for work with viruses and bacteria that require high level of bio-containment.
