ConferencesResidency Program

Morning ReportOur residency program has morning report daily from 8am to 8:30am in our new conference room in Jennie Sealy Hospital. On most days, PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents present patient cases for work-up and discussion.

In addition to the exercises below, PGY-3 residents also give presentations about different subject matter in a particular field of interest. This allows development of their public speaking skills and to educate residents about something that interests them. Prior Resident Talk topics have included: inpatient diabetes control, wound care, interpreting PFTs, and allergy/immunology for the internist.

  • The goal of the cases is to present both common and uncommon diseases and then focus on a teaching point of the residents discretion.
  • On other days, a team-based approach is used to work-up cases seen at UTMB with an emphasis on teaching points relevant to the presented case.
  • On Fridays, faculty are invited to participate and work-up the patient case. They offer valuable teaching points to the residents and offer expertise with years of experience.

Furthermore, other topics are interspersed throughout the month including: Journal Club (2 times per month), Resident Board Review (2-4 times per month) Morbidity and Mortality conference, and monthly House Staff meetings.
