About Us

Our NICU

The 43 bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UTMB is currently under remodeling. Our NICU will be transitioning from a traditional bay NICU to private rooms.

Clinical facilities include a delivery service of 7000+ births per year, a neonatal intensive care unit which admits 800+ patients per year, a neonatal transport program, an ECMO program, and a large newborn nursery.

Team rounds are multi-disciplinary and include a dedicated neonatal pharmacist and nutritionist.  Subspecialists are readily available for consultation.

In June 2021, the first wing of the new NICU officially opened its doors with its state of the art equipment and beautiful views of our beloved Galveston.
