Osler Student Activities
John P. McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine
Willie O’s Dinner
Each year all School of Medicine classes are invited to this formal dinner to welcome and honor the incoming class of first-year medical students, along with 2nd year coordinators and 3rd & 4th year student mentors in attendance. The Osler Student Society Michael H. Malloy Award in the Medical Humanities are presented annually at this dinner.
These awards recognize a first, second, third and fourth-year student who submits the winning project based on the medical humanities. Also during the event, the societies vie for an additional bonus to their budgets by making the "best" presentation depicting their particular society's namesake. In 2024, the Laennec Society emerged as winners. The highlight of the evening was a lively talk on how to navigate medical school, given by Guest Speaker, Dr. Lindsey Sonstein.
